About

The Technical Institute of Amedi was established by the Kurdistan Regional Government in 2004 as an academic institution in the region. Initially, due to the lack of locations and dedicated buildings, the Institute conducted its first year of studies at the Duhok Technical Institute in Duhok, subsequently relocating to Amedi the following year. Initially, it comprised two sections: the Computer Department and the Business Administration Department. In the academic year 2012-2013, the Computer Department was renamed the Information Technology (IT) Department to enhance the level of scientific progression and the expansion of the Institute, leading to the establishment of new departments. In 2011, a new building was constructed, featuring study halls, laboratories, the Deanship, and advanced internal departments (Accommodations). The Marketing Management department opened in the academic year 2011-2012, and the Disease Analyses and Animal Resources departments were established in 2012-2013. The Tourism Management department was introduced in 2014, while the Business Department was closed in the academic year 2014-2015. The Amedi Technical Institute is affiliated with Duhok Polytechnic University (DPU) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, currently comprising seven scientific departments: IT, Marketing Management, Disease Analyses, Animal Resources, Tourism Management, Statistics and Information, and Business Management. It's worth noting that the Amedi Technical Institute introduced evening shift sections for IT and Business Management in the academic year 2016-2017. Over its twelve graduation rounds since its establishment until 2017, approximately 1568 students have obtained technical diplomas and continue to contribute to the development of the Kurdistan Region.
